SASO Added products that require MIM industrial approval
Effective from May 10, 2023, an important update will occur regarding the requirements for obtaining MIM (Ministry of Industry and Mineral Resources) industrial approval in Saudi Arabia. The Saudi Standards, Metrology, and Quality Organization (SASO) has recently added a list of products and corresponding HS codes that now require MIM industrial approval. This crucial update aims to enhance the quality and safety standards of these products in the Saudi market.

SASO Adopts New Technical Regulations
The Saudi Standard, Metrology, and Quality Organization have declared during meeting No. (191), held on the 6th of April 2023, the adoption of new technical regulations according to the following:
§ The Technical Regulations for Watercraft
This regulation aims to define the basic requirements for the recreational watercraft products included in the scope of this technical regulation and to specify the conformity assessment procedures that suppliers must adhere to ensure that these products comply with the requirements that aim to preserve the environment and health the safety of its users, and the facilitation of market survey procedures.
§ Technical Regulation for Standby and Sleep Mode for Electronic Devices
This regulation aims to decrease energy consumption to preserve resources and the national economy and its gains by defining the requirements for the standby and sleep mode, and the standby mode in case of connection to the network for electrical and electronic devices, and specifying conformity assessment procedures that Suppliers must adhere to them, to ensure an increase in the energy efficiency of these products and to preserve the environment.
SASO approved on new 4 Technical Regulations updates
The Saudi Standards, Metrology, and Quality Organization (SASO) announced in its meeting No. (42), held on the 3rd of Dec 2022, the adoption of the new amendments on 4 Saudi Technical Regulations, which are:
§ Technical Regulations for Amusement Park Equipment and Games
§ Technical Regulations for Personal Protective Equipment and Clothing
§ Technical Regulations for Used Imported Vehicles
§ Technical Regulations for Doors, Windows, and their Accessories
SASO Announce new requirements for some HS Codes Products
Saudi Standards, Metrology, and Quality Organization (SASO) have announced that the products that are registered through the SABER Platform under the HS Code 850431000000 require the following:
§ IECEE National Recognition Certificate and Registration in the SL&S System for (Lighting accessories (parts) such as transformers, power supply, and converters).
§ Certificate of Conformity (CoC) for (Other transformers that are not related to lighting accessories).
SASO Issues Updates to SABER Technical Regulations
The Saudi Standards, Metrology, and Quality Organization (SASO) announced, in a circular issued by it, a list of customs items that will be modified on the SABER Electronic Platform to become subject to Technical Regulations within 30 days from the date of 2023/05/02, and they include:
§ Technical Regulations for Safety in Machines (Spray Devices for Drilling, Extracting or Cleaning Semiconductor Wafers): HS Code (848620700000).
§ Technical Regulations for Auto Spare Parts: HS Code (700719000000)
§ Technical Regulations for Building Materials - Part Four: Bricks, tiles, ceramics, sanitary ware, and related products (bricks, blocks, and other slabs (tiles) and other ceramic items, made from siliceous fossil flour (such as kieselguhr, tripolite, or diatomite) or similar siliceous soils): Code HS (690100000000).
